Lawrence Sperry, the inventor of the Sperry Gyroscope Stabilizer for aeroplanes installed his device in a Curtis Hydro-aeroplane and sailed over New York, thrilling the early morning crowds who witnessed the flight. The flight was made for the benefit of some naval officers. The latter pronounced the test as completely successful.
