John Boyle O'Reilly (1844-1890) Irish born poet, journalist and fiction writer. As a youth in Ireland, he was a member of the Irish Republican brotherhood, or Fenian, for which he was transported to Western Australia. He escaped the colony and made his way to the United States where he settled in Boston and today stands a sculpture in O'Reilly's honor created by Chester Daniel French, erected on the Fenway.
