Rare Black River Canal Loan 5% Bond dated 17th November, 1840 held by Erastus Corning. Corning was an American Businessman and Politician. Corning had interests in the railroad, banking, insurance, land speculation and work iron works. He was a member of the New York state Senate and State Legislatures and was instrumental in planning the largest corporation in America at the time, the New York Central.
