Autograph Letter Signed, "Daphne du Maurier," 1946. Letter on "Menabilly Par Cornwall" letterhead explaining a personal seal. Letter is dated Nov. 10; envelope has a received postage stamp of Dec. 2 1946 [USA].
"Dear Mr Shaw I am so sorry I neglected to answer your first letter, but the fact is I do not have a personal seal. I I use on, I use my husbands' as you will notice at the top of this page. The du Maurier crest was a lion rampant, and underneath the words in Breton "ABRET AG AROAG" which is said to mean "First and Foremost." I am so glad you enjoyed "The King's General." Yours sincerely Daphne du Maurier."
Center fold on letter; envelope has tape on three sides. 5.5" x 7" Excellent condition.
Dame Daphne du Maurier, (1907 – 1989) (Lady Browning DBE was an English author and playwright. Many of her works have been adapted into films, including the novels Rebecca and Jamaica Inn and the short stories The Birds and Don't Look Now.
