Original Signed Engraving, “The Miller House, White Plains, NY; Samuel Hollyer (1826 - 1919) Engraver, copyright 1912. Engraving: 4 3/4 X 6 ¾ with matt: 7.25” x 9”; printed upon fine china paper and impressed onto a sheet of white, wove paper. Signed in pencil by Samuel Hollyer under the engraving and signed and dated by him within the plate. The inscribed title (most likely in Hollyer’s hand) along the extreme lower margin. Very faint scuffing and foxing in the outer margins, lite scuff in sky on right in engraving.
The Miller House engraving is listed in the New York State Library; numbered 95.
The Miller House, White Plains is one of Westchester’s oldest historical landmarks is presently a Westchester County Historic Site and the National Register of Historic Places for having briefly hosted George Washington at the time of the 1776 Battle of White Plains.
