Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson; First Lady of the 36th President Lyndon B. Johnson [1912 - 2007].
Typewritten Letter Signed, "Lady Bird Johnson" 1 page, 8vo, written as First Lady on White House Stationery; February 16, 1968. She writes, "Dear Mrs. [Daniel W.] Knowlton: Thank you so very much for your words of confidence. My disappointment was that the purpose of that luncheon -- to discuss how citizens can work constructively to combat crime -- was obscured. Every American is deeply concerned about our problems in Vietnam. However, we cannot ignore the work to be done at home. I am enclosing some suggestions that were made at the luncheon which I thought might interest you. Pleases know I deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness."
Excellent condition.
