Rachel Jackson wife of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States.

L[ewis]. Summers, Autograph Letter Signed; and endorsed by Andrew Jackson. Walnut Grove, June 1, 1830. To Andrew J. Donelson. Most probably from the member of the Virginia family then living in the western part of the state in which he belatedly forwards a letter that gives "additional evidence of the estimation in which [Mrs. Andrew Jackson] was held at a very gloomy period of her life." He speaks of having been entertained by the Jackson's in 1827 and the feeling of respect that he had for Mrs. Jackson, a feeling that was uppermost in the mind of the writer of the letter. On the address sheet are the words in the hand of Andrew Jackson  "To be carefully preserved".
