Cuban State Lottery, original handwritten letter on printed stationery from Alejandro Chao, proprietor of La Propagada Litereria in Havana, the official printer of Cuban lottery tickets to the American Bank Note Company, New York, acknowledging receipt of a proof sheet of ticket under-printing, 1891. The letter is accompanied by the actual sheet of 40 tickets and a large broadside listing the prizes available in the 1890 and 1891 lotteries.

Gentlemen: I have been favored with your favor of date 25th of the past month, enclosing to me a proof of the back-ground for the Lottery Notes, of the extraordinary drawings, by which I have seen with satisfaction that you have corrected the error which you had in the inscription which says: “La Propaganda Literaria.”
I give you a thousand thanks for your attention and remain at your orders, Your Obedient Servant, (Signed) Alejandro Chao.
