In brown and black ink with central vignette of ships using steam, sail and oar; verso vignette shows Morgan's own Corsair on the Hudson river. The New Jersey Junction joined the northern lines of the New York Central and Hudson River R.R. with southern lines, achieving in typical Morgan fashion an increase in stability and a central position for his interests.
John Pierpont Morgan (1837 - 1913) an American financier, banker, philanthropist and art collector who dominated corporate finance and arranged the merger of Edison General Electric and Thomson-Houston Electric Company to form General Electric. One of the most important financial figures of his time, he saved the system from virtual bankruptcy in the depression of 1895, developed the American railroad system and formed the U.S. Steel Corporation.
